Bodysnatchers by vampire-zombie Bodysnatchers by vampire-zombie
make a sound.
move back home.
i've seen it coming. i've
seen it coming.

model: luis ~arcanaxci

i named it bodysnatchers because the blurry leaf at the top of the picture looks like stringy fingers trying to pick him up and steal him away. the blurryness is for the mood. radiohead is inspiring all this.

I really like the contrast between the trees and luis.. doesn't he know how to stand out (Red against Green I mean). Brilliant photo, sort of makes me feel something I can't quite put my finger on.

this is gorgeous. It's quite.... apathetic, I think is the word I'm looking for. I don't know if that's what you were going for, but I like it :)

Radiohead is wonderful :)

thank you so much. yeah it was what i was going for. these photos were all inspired by radiohead for me, so i was trying to give them a surreal feel.

you really captured that.

Wonderfully nauseating. The blur actually does improve the picture- at least, I imagine so. His pose is fantastic too. It sounds a little light-hearted, but he looks very... high. He looks like some stoner walking through woods thinking "Whoa, what just happened?" and I mean that entirely seriously, but entirely complementary too! It's a dizzy, slow feeling, that adds some eerie mystique to the piece.

As usual, your style of shot is wonderful- stretching upwards, much beyond the point of focus, definitely lends space and a vastness that would otherwise be missing. It's what gave you your title too, so I guess it worked out perfectly all round!

I think my only qualm with this picture is that, as regards colour-scheme, it's a little too dead-pan. I'm not sure if it would have that same tired, sick feeling if it wasn't that way though, so I'm conflicted. I'd prefer slightly more vivid colour, and yet fear it would take away from the mood at the same time. I guess there's just no pleasing me. :P Still, the yellow-green, and Luis' stand out red do make it feel a little like an early scene from a cheesy horror film. Which is good, in combination with the title.

Your caption is great too. I think it emphasises stillness and silence in the picture, by drawing attention to "make a sound". Like the way some things ring in your ears like gunshots, when your head is spinning, and your senses are totally alert. It's a quirky little touch that I appreciate, anyway.

Anyway, this is good work. It's missing some small touch of vivaciousness, or energy, which makes me not consider it as highly as some of your other work, but it's going somewhere that I love- it's experimental, and different, and that makes me a little excited. Keep it up, I can't wait to see what's next.

yeah this was definitely a more experimental bunch of photos, and i had so much fun taking them. i was trying to go for a more surreal sort of thing with these photos, using weird angles and not focussing the camera. the photos from that day, for me, were inspired by radiohead so i was sort of trying to capture how they sound in picture form.

haha and that quote that you said about the stoner made me laugh, cos now that you mention it its exactly how it looks like! sort of goes back to the radiohead theme. i've been listening to them all week and they sort of take you to another world when you hear nothing but them. they are so crazy and they make out of key singing sound great :P

oh and that "sick feeling" is what i was trying to get from the colours in the photo. sort of goes along with the out of focusness and his expression and pose. i thought using vibrant colours like i usually do wouldn't really suite what i was trying to do with this photo.

well yeah, im just trying to experiment a bit. i really love the results of the photos that day but i didn't think they would be as popular as some of my usual stuff when i uploaded it on deviantart. i still like it though, and radiohead is endless, insane, surreal inspiration. don't know why i haven't listened to them earlier!

Well keep up the experimentation! I love the feel of those pictures, so don't stop any time soon! Also, good to have found an inspiration band- it's always nice to have something that's driving your creativity. I still need to find that...

thats preaty cool. how did u do the blur?
vampire-zombie Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2009  Professional Photographer
thank you so much. the blur of the grass at the top? i was holding my camera down to the grass (not looking through the viewfinder) and it was too close to the lens to be in focus. and the blur for the rest of the photo was just cos i didn't focus the lens at all :P
