Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.
And this is becoming a growing problem, I think, because n

i'm up to 394 followers on my twitter account: [link] how about number 400 gets a special photoshop colour curve that no one else will ever own?

this year i set a goal for myself to reach two hundred blog followers (www.jtrotti.blogspot.com) before my birthday and that happened just two weeks ago (which i still can't believe)! i decided than just posting up my photographs, that i want to start giving away help to fellow photographers, in the form of free photoshop colour curves, tutorials, before and afters, and publicly answering some of the common questions i get through emails (one of which i finished today).

it means the world to me the amount of support i have from all of you so i want to be as helpful as possible! let me know if there is anything you'd like to see from me, anything you want me to write about or anything you can think of at all and i will try and do it!!

i don't like it when people sell curves, i don't really think you should be able to do that. textures, stock images, yes, but not curves.
